BIOPHILIC DESIGN

BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Interior design classifies itself according to the various periods and eras. Dating back since the medieval times, when wall art paintings were the only means to add charm to a space to the contemporary, when detailing and the motifs wore the crown, and now the modern, when we play with lines and forms and quirk it up with colors and art pieces. It has changed so much since then, but the only thing that remains unaltered is the desire to stay connected to the nature.

Biophilia is term that was coined back in 1980’s by the biologist E.O. Wilson, which refers to the deep genetic connection between the nature and the human beings. We have witnessed a great shift from the rural setting towards urbanization, where we are losing this connection every day, as we are yearning for the so-called developed nation. Now that it is too late, people are looking for a loose end to move back to nature by adding the biophilic design in their interior spaces.

Today, as we have carelessly crept our way towards the increasing physical and mental health issues, these biophilic designed-interiors is the only rescue for this emergency cry for help, to fall back in the lap of nature. It not only adds up a great value to the aesthetics, but has also proven to be an asset in improving the efficiency of a human being by reducing stress and anxiety.
